BGP Communities

Cloudfira supports standard and extended BGP communities for traffic engineering. Use these to control route announcements and influence traffic paths.

Informational Communities

These communities are added to routes to indicate their origin:

Community Description
XXXXX:1000 Learned from customer
XXXXX:2000 Learned from peer
XXXXX:3000 Learned from transit
XXXXX:100 Learned in Madrid
XXXXX:200 Learned in Valencia

Action Communities

Customers can attach these communities to influence announcement behavior:

Community Action
XXXXX:0 Do not announce to any peer or upstream
XXXXX:1 Prepend 1x to all
XXXXX:2 Prepend 2x to all
XXXXX:3 Prepend 3x to all
XXXXX:9000 Blackhole route

Large Communities

We also support RFC 8092 large communities for more granular control:

Community Action
XXXXX:0:peer-asn Do not announce to specific peer
XXXXX:1:peer-asn Prepend 1x to specific peer
XXXXX:2:peer-asn Prepend 2x to specific peer

Note: Replace XXXXX with Cloudfira's actual ASN. Contact your account manager for the current ASN and any custom community requirements.
